About my Sculptures
Each of my sculptures are individually handcrafted in various metals. They are one-off pieces suitable for indoor or outdoor installations. My genres range from realism to abstract including the human form, wildlife, marine life and architectural installations.
Paul sculpts in various types of metal such as steel, aluminium copper and brass, which he hand forges into the lovely sculptures one can see in the galleries. Each piece is handcrafted and his art form is a unique and extremely labour intensive technique making each piece a one of a kind. He derives his subjects from that which he sees around him and in nature.
He has also done some unique commissions for well known celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey.
This exciting 20 piece commission was for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy which was opened in early 2007 in Henley on Klip in South Africa.
With this commission came television appearances of Paul’s work and himself both internationally on NBC U.S.A. in a documentary featuring Oprah’s Leadership Academy and locally on Noted on SABC 3, an Arts and Culture show. Paul has also appeared on Curious Culture on SABC 2 as the featured artist for a lifestyle show.
During this time Paul also held a solo exhibition at Kizo Gallery in Gateway as well as being selected as one of the South African Artists to exhibit two pieces of art each for the Satyagraha Exhibition- a collaboration between South Africa and India that was exhibited both in New Delhi India and South Africa.
Paul’s work is also constantly being shown through the Kizo galleries at the various shows and expos around the country such as Decorex, the Home & Garden Show, Sandton Expo, the ICC and the Rand Easter show.
Paul considers his Art to be a labour of the soul and the satisfaction he gains from it can only be expressed through the joy at seeing it on display for all to see in homes and businesses. |
